A number of you responded to my request for points to be included in Lord eversham's speech when he opened the Debate on the Mental Health Act in he House of Lords on 4th July. We shall be publishing the speech in full in be Annual Report. Meanwhile you will find a short account of the Debate in journal on page 114. Besides help from individual members Lord Feversham received memoranda r?m the Royal Medico-Psychological Association, the Association of sychiatric Social Workers, the National Citizens' Advice Bureaux, and the National Association of Chief Male Nurses. This was a great encouragement to Us all, and I should like to say: "Thank you". National Council of Social Work Training Another major Parliamentary occasion for us was the passing of the Health JSlt?rs and Social Workers Bill, which received the Royal Assent on 3rd July. e can now hope to see the establishment of a National Council of Social ?rk Training, and the Association has, in fact, been asked to nominate reparatives for the Council.
